Dallas, TX

overcast 75 °F

Now we are in Dallas, Texas. We showed up at the camp site around 10:30 last night, after Adam knocked out 6 hours of driving, his first experience driving on the right side of the road. A night full of sleep and showering, we woke up early this morning to go visit the highlights of Dallas and Arlington. We visited the billion-dollar Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Texas Rangers Stadium, and saw the 245 foot tall “Titan” rollercoaster at Six Flags Over Texas, all of which manifest the saying “everything’s bigger in Texas.”
But enough about normal sight-seeing, the real action picked up when we drove to downtown Dallas to see the JFK Memorial and the famous Grassy Knoll. Downtown Dallas, much like other large cities, is almost completely compromised of one-way streets. Adam, our regular Wilson “Rocket” Rodriguez, decided to hop out of the car to snap some photos while the rest of us circled around the block.
Ten minutes later, with the car circling around the block in search of our photographer. With no forms of communication, he was nowhere to be found. The one-way streets quickly turned into eight lane freeways. As I shouted orders from the back seat of the car, acting as a human rearview mirror, we eventually made our way back to the JFK Memorial.
This time, with Nash and Philip yelling out “Old Bean” and “Adam” out of the front windows, me navigating a loop around three blocks of downtown, and Greg on foot as a drone, we continued the search for our photographer. After five minutes, the car had rediscovered Greg, with no evidence of Adam.
With Greg back in the car, we half-heartedly joked about just leaving Adam in Dallas. The debate about cutting our losses and continuing on to Roswell, the UFO capital of the world, we were nearly ready to get commemorative tattoos to mark the date on which we lost our English mate.
Finally, with all hope nearly abandoned the car peeked around the corner of an intersection, and there he was. Standing in the hot Texas sun, sweating. Snapping photos left and right, not knowing how close he had come to being written off as the first person KIA.

Here is a poem from Greg about our adventure today:

Sleeping like cats in their hats
Dancing like birds in the sun
Eating Mac'n'cheese
